Following a meeting last week with local councillors about progress and performance at the surgery, please find their statement below:
Councillor Sue Saddington, chairman of the Health Scrutiny Committee at Nottinghamshire County Council, along with fellow local councillors, recently met the management and staff of Balderton Primary Care Centre to hear how the new management plans to improve services for local residents and meet increased demand for GP appointments are progressing.
Councillor Saddington said:
“This was a very positive and productive meeting. The management were very open about our concerns, especially around better communication with patients. It’s clear the practice was not in a good place when they took over management a year ago, and they have obviously been working hard to recruit more GPs and reception staff.
“They have invested in a modern telephone system which goes live this month, and introducing new technology to reduce call volumes and free up GPs to spend more time with patients with complex issues. We all agreed that these are difficult times for primary care, and so patients, staff and local communities must come together to get the best out of the practice.
“We heard a clear message that their doors are open and they have firm plans to improve services for the long-term. I and fellow local councillors will continue to meet and scrutinise their progress on behalf of our residents.”
The meeting was also attended by Nottingham CCG Head of Primary Care and two team members as well as Balderton parish councillors.
